Invest Dominica Authority was established to give a new impetus to the promotion and facilitation services to attract investments into Dominica, a core function of the Authority. To allow for a focused approach the IDA has two functional Units: Investor Promotion Unit, which focuses on promotion with the objective of attracting sustainable investments in various sectors and the Investor Services Unit, which provides facilitation services and acts like a ‘One Stop Shop’ between the Investor and the various agencies on the island.

The IDA has qualified professionals who are efficient and diligent in the execution of their duties. We recognise that one of the key platforms that is essential in the IDA having global reach is the use of technology, particularly the use of the Internet and an interactive website.

The internet has allowed the IDA to have constant and quick communication with its clients, network with other Agencies, allow staff to undergo training and refresher courses and gauge the trend in investment promotion. The IDA understands the importance of having a proper website that can build the country’s image as a desirable location for investment and to this end with the assistance of financial support from the World Bank contracted a dynamic web consultant to revamp the image of the IDA’s website. Our intent was to provide a virtual environment where the investors and visitors can be provided with current and updated images and information of the island; online applications forms; procedures for doing business covering all facets from registration of businesses, purchasing of land, establishing a business, and relocating to Dominica, to name a few.

The IDA understands that high competition worldwide in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction requires a specific location image, which should be in line with what targeted investors are looking for. The IDA believes that through the use of its website the effectiveness of its investment promotion and targeting strategy will be maximized, helping to attract the kind of investments beneficial to Dominica.
