Diving, Snorkling, Whale & Dolphin Watching

Tourists on a Boat Taking Photos Alongside a Whale
Dominica’s attractions are not just limited to land. With drop offs, healthy marine life, caves and shipwrecks all in their pristine state, the island was rated among the top five best dive spots in the world by the reputable Skin-Diver magazine.
Whale and dolphin watching is also a new and unique activity in Dominica where the fun and excitement of seeing these large mammals in their natural environment is overwhelming. Because of our geographic location and abundance of food and fresh water, Dominica has always been a natural stopping point for yachts that ply the Caribbean Sea who require rest and supplies.
This means that even as an informal sector, the economic contribution to Dominica by yachting visitors is substantial. With this in mind, the Government of Dominica encourages the development of this sector in terms of investment in marinas, ship’s chandeliers, supplies of water, agricultural products and other food, and fuel.
