Invest Dominica Authority (IDA) is pleased to announce another successful webinar which was executed with contacts and clients in the French West Indies. Following the first webinar in June, the Authority was guided by a poll taken then, for sectors of interest. Through ongoing collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce of Guadeloupe and Martinique, the Authority was able to present two important sectors in a one-hour webinar on October 7, 2021. The event attracted just over 40 attendees and the sectors covered were Knowledge Services/Digital Business and Agri-Business/Light Manufacturing.

The panellists at the event were Mr. Mark Frampton, Honorary Consul of Martinique, Mr. Craig Nesty of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, Ms. Aeyola George of DEXIA and Mr. John Robin of the Dominica Manufacturers Association. Ms. Rhoda Joseph, Executive Director of Invest Dominica Authority provided a great summary of the key points presented and reiterated the readiness of the destination for these sectors and the investment opportunities which are available. The webinar was moderated by Mrs. Hermina Augustine, Senior Investment Promotion Officer at the Authority. The participants benefitted from information which covered:

  • Major infrastructure and legislation to support the sectors
  • Details and general information on both sectors
  • Business opportunities currently being promoted for the sectors
  • Structures in place to facilitate business in these industries
  • Benefits and advantages when working with local partners
  • Government support and incentives
  • Facilitation with suppliers and associations

The event ended in a very interactive question and answer segment. Attendees were encouraged to continue communication with IDA or with the presenters, if additional information is required. IDA will work closely with the French Chambers to prepare for the highly anticipated trade mission to Dominica in 2022. It is anticipated that ongoing and active engagement will be received from many of the attendees.
